Pikkutylli - vuoden lintu

English text is the bottom of Finnish text.

Pikkutylli (Charadrius dubius) on vuoden lintu (Birdlife )

Sometimes it is difficult to see a Little Ringed Plover in the field, because it's coloring.

Kuvat on otettu  27.4. Viikin pelolla. Klikkaamalla kuvaa, kuvan saa isommaksi.

The Little Ringed Plover is the bird of the year 2017 (Birdlife Finland). There are in Finland estimated at 4000 – 6000 pairs of Little Ringed Plovers. It is not a big number.

These photos I photographed 27.4. in the field of Viikki, Helsinki.

  6. Yes Anu. The LRP can be difficult to see but their calls are very distinctive. I hope the weather warms for you soon. It has been the same here - everything is slow to arrive,

  9. That is the best camouflage I've ever seen! Would never have seen that bird without your arrow. When you show the close ups of it, I can see it is a beautiful bird. Thank you for showing it to me!
